Norm Carlton says fishing on Mineral Lake is as good as ever this season. Its been strong since opening day (April 26), said Carlton, who works in the Mineral Lake Resort boathouse. Its staying strong. Very strong.
Earlier this week, an angler reeled in a 6.8-pound rainbow trout. Carlton says on average about two big fish are caught each week. Anglers are also regularly pulling in 2-pound browns.
In the last three weeks the lake, located off Highway 7 toward Mount Rainier, has been restocked with 2,000 browns and 9,000 rainbows.
Thats one of the reasons its such a great year, said Carlton, who says fishing has been best in the evening.
